Nathan

Nathan Byrd

Nathan Byrd is probably on facebook, reading or chatting with collegians! He arrived at the UGA BCM in 2000 and loves being a
Dawg! He is married to Karen, his high school sweetheart. She teaches 8th grade Georgia History in Walton County. His greatest joy and blessing is being a dad to Natalie (now a middle schooler), Nicholas (10), and Karlie (born 2/15/06). He was an art major at Georgia Southern University and received his Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He is now working on his PhD in adult education at UGA. In his spare time (lol) he likes to make pottery, cook for his family and friends, ride his road bike, read (just check out all of the books in his office!), and be creative. Nathan works with the BCM worship teams, seniors, and alumni. Nathan also has his own blog at natedawg3.blogspot.com.

Karen

Karen Shumaker

Karen Shumaker is in her fourth year as campus minister here at UGA. She is a graduate of University of AR, where she was a nursing major. She went on to graduate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a masters in religious education. She claims she's an avid Razorback fan, but we will make sure she learns to love the Dawgs as well!! She enjoys cooking, reading, running, hiking, fishing, and watching movies ... and she LOVES Diet Coke. She also works with nursing students at SONAT and loves leading medical mission trips!

Vaughn

Vaughn Calcutt

Vaughn Calcutt is this year's campus minister intern. Vaughn and her husband, Cleve, are very excited to be at UGA. She is finishing up her master's degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In May she will be graduating with a Master’s of Divinity in College Ministry. They are both from South Carolina and are Clemson Tiger fans. They met in college at Francis Marion University where Franklin is an alumni. They are both former college athletes and love all types of recreational activity. They both have a heart for college ministry and are so excited to be at UGA. Vaughn will also be working with Gainesville State Community College.
